Innovation: Winners have demonstrated that their businesshas substantially improvedin areas of performance andcommercial success by either outstanding innovation,continued over at least 2 years, or continuous innovationand development over at least 5 years.

Innovation achievements are assessed for: invention,design or production; performance of services andproducts; marketing and distribution; or after-salessupport of goods or services.

Sustainable Development: Winnersin this category demonstrate commercially successful products, servicesand approaches to management which have major benefitsFor the environment, society and the wider economy, eitherby outstanding advance over at least 2 years or continuousachievement over 5 years.

Sustainable Development achievements are assessed for:invention, design, production, performance, marketing,distribution, after-sales support of goods or services; or management of resources or people and relationshipswith other organisations (or their representatives).

Businesses can enter more than one Award category as long as they meet the criteria.

The Queen’s Award for Enterprise Promotion recognisespeople who have played an outstanding rolein promotingthe growth of business enterprise and/or entrepreneurialskills and attitudesin others, for example by giving uptheir time to help potential entrepreneursin educationorin starting abusiness. There are 6 recipients this year,one of them for Lifetime Achievement.
