January 1953 to November 1953 FMF Corpsman (HM3 to HM2), Easy Company, 2Bn, 5th Marines. In battles on and around Reno, Carson and Vegas, March & April 1953. After fighting ceased, on mine clearing details with 1st Engineer Bn. Trying to locate "Trigger Jack", Leo Kelly and Bill Sterns, or someone who might know if they survived the war. 22 years in the Hospital Corps, retired a Master Chief in 1971. Qualified chief-of- the- watch on submarine, SSBN 600. Made a few trips to Vietnam. Last duty station Naval Dispensary Complex, Washington, D.C., fiscal & supply, Arlington Annex (HQ Marine Corps).

Recently visited the "Pickle Meadows" cold weather training area in the Sierra Nevadas. Quite a difference from the 1950's!

After Vietnam, I stayed in the Corps until 78, working as a feature writer/asst.editor for both the Hawaii Marine and Camp Lejeune Globe.
