新余经济开发区设立于2001年，是经国家发改委核准、江西省政府重点调度的省级开发区，是全国在新能源领域唯一获得“国家科技兴贸创新基地”称号的开发区，是目前江西省唯一一个副厅级建制的省级开发区，也是江西省首个唯一的“光伏产业特色工业园区”，全国在新能源行业最具投资价值的开发区，已形成太阳
能、风能、低温余热发电三大新能源重点发展领域。

    Xinyu Economic Development Zone was established in 2001, is approved by the National Development and Reform Commission, is a key scheduling provincial-level development zone, is the only zone been awarded as “national new energy innovation base with science and technology trade" in national new energy field, is the only “Characteristics of photovoltaic industrial park” in Jiangxi Province. The zone is the most investment value one in the national new energy field, which has formed three major new energy development areas: solar, wind, low-temperature waste heat power generation.

    成立以来，全区按照“开放立区、工业强区、经营活区”的工作思路，倾力打造多功能、生态型、现代化工业新城区，通过推出一系列有效举措，在短短的几年时间里实现了超常规、跨越式发展。全区完成GDP、工业主营业务收入、工业增加值、财政收入、利用外资和外贸进出口总额等指标连年翻番增长，平均增幅列全省第一，各项主要经济指标综合评比已连续四年列全省省级开发区第一位，已成为加快江西省开放型经济发展的一支重要力量和全省最具发展实力、发展活力和发展潜力的工业示范园区，目前正在积极争取成为国家级开发区。
    According to the guideline of “developing the zone through opening-up, industries and better operation”, the zone has spared no effort to build a modern ecological new industrial urban zone. Through a series of effective measures, the industrial economy has extraordinary development in the past few years that the indicators’ growth of GDP, industrial main sales income, industrial added value, fiscal revenue, the use of foreign capital, import and export volume double every year and the average increase listed the 1st in the province. The zone was listed the first in provincial industrial parks in Jiangxi province for 4 years in terms of its major economic indicators, which has become an important force open to speed up economic development and the province's most vitality and potential industrial park, is now actively striving to become a national development zone.
