澳华科学技术协会(简称澳华科协)于1999年1月15日在澳大利亚新南威尔士州正式注册为AUSINAN SCIENCE & TECHNOLOGY SOCIETY INCORPORATED (ASTS)。澳华科协是全澳性高层次人才团体,总部设在悉尼市,其他地区设分会。澳华科协会员具有高学位,多在各大学、研究机构或科技企业担任高级职务,包括澳大利亚科学与工程院院士。澳华科协的宗旨是促进科学技术的发展,推动学术教育活动,团结科技工作者和各方面学者,增强澳大利亚和中国及其他国家和地区的科技文化交流,支持中国科教兴国战略。
澳华科协于1999年正式注册成立后,立即组织全澳华裔科学家出版了论文集《迈进科技新纪元》,庆祝澳大利亚联邦百年华诞和中华人民共和国五十华诞,献给第一位访问澳大利亚的中国国家主席****。协会论文集由著名科学家、时任全国政协副主席钱伟长题写书名。2002年担任全球反独促统大会组委会副主席,创建网站,出版论文集《中国和平统一与世界和平》,美国前总统克林顿为主编孙君泓亲笔题词祝贺。
澳华科协是中国多个机构的合作组织。创会会长孙君泓和名誉会长窦士学是中国科学院首批聘任的海外评审专家及国务院侨办首批聘任的海外专家咨询委员会委员;现任会长童世庐教授是澳大利亚国家健康与医学研究委员会资深研究员,是气候变化与人群健康研究领域中世界知名学者;还有多位会员在中国的高校和研究机构担任客座教授或客座研究员、长江学者、 春晖学者、“千人计划”学者等,承担两国政府间或单位间的科技合作项目。现任协会领导中就有王军、王训该、周晓方三位副会长入选中国国家特聘专家(中组部“千人计划”教授),还有多位入选地方领军人才。
澳华科协多次组织人员参加中国有关部门举办的各种科技交流活动,中国科学院白春礼院长亲自视察我会在中国留学人员广州科技交流会展区并与团组成员亲切合影。前会长金声于2008年在第十一届广州留交会上获得教育部和科技部举办的第三届“春晖杯”中国留学人员创新创业大赛一等奖,澳华科协获组织奖。仅2012年澳华科协就组织专家100多人次赴中国各地参加科技交流活动。
澳华科协也多次在澳大利亚举办各种高层次人才座谈会、科技商贸洽谈会等。2009年澳华科协在悉尼承办欧美同学会•中国留学人员联谊会第十一届“21世纪中国:海外留学人员服务祖国科学发展”研讨会,首次在海外大力宣传“千人计划”取得圆满成功,中国人大常委会副委员长、中国科协主席、欧美同学会•中国留学人员联谊会会长韩启德为澳华科协题词“全球视野,中国情怀”。2011年协助大连市政府举办大连海外高层次人才(悉尼)洽谈会,吸引过千高层次人才参会,创下澳大利亚人才招聘会多项纪录。2012年上半年澳华科协和北京中关村科技园共同承办“全澳华人高端人才峰会”,我会会员担任中关村驻悉尼联络站首任负责人。下半年协助济南市政府举办高层次人才澳大利亚洽谈会,我会会员担任济南市驻悉尼工作站主任。2013年协助中国科技部和宁波市政府主办的创业计划大赛。同年4月武汉东湖高新区海外人才工作联络站在我会建立。
Ausinan Science & Technology Society (ASTS) was incorporated on 15 January 1999 in the State of New South Wales, Australia. ASTS is a national talents organization with the headquarter in Sydney and branches in the states of Australia. Members of ASTS have higher degrees, holding leading or senior posts in universities,institutions, and enterprises. Among them are fellows of Australian Academy of Technological Science and engineering. The objectives of the Society are to advance science and technology, to promote scientific, artistic, professional and educational activities, to foster friendship and collaboration among Australian Chinese scientists, scholars and professionals, and with Australian and international societies for science and technology, to promote scientific, technological and cultural exchanges between Australia and China and other countries, and to support the implementation of the strategy of revitalizing China with science and education.
At the founding of ASTS, the Society's book Science and Technology - Advancing into the New Millennium was published with the collective contributions from Australian scientists of Chinese background. It significantly marks the centennial anniversary of the Federation of Australia and the 50th anniversary of the People's Republic of China. It was also be used as a memento of President Jiang Zemin's visit to Australia. The book title was inscribed by Qian Weichang, former Vice Chairman of National Committee of Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference. In 2002, ASTS established website and published Proceedings of World Congress on the Peaceful Reunification of China and World Peace which was inscribed by Bill Clinton, former President of USA.
ASTS has collaborations with a number of organizations in China. The Inaugural President Junhong Sun and Honorary President Shixue Dou are the first Overseas Assessors honored by the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the first Overseas Expert Consultant Committee Members honored by the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of P. R. China. President Shilu Tong is Leader of Ecosystem Change and Population Health Program and Senior Research Fellow of National Health and Medical Research Council of Australia, also renowned in China and in the world. Vice Presidents Jun Wang, Xungai Wang and Xiaofang Zhou have been recruited in the "1000-elite Program" by the Chinese Government.
ASTS has organized numerous teams to attend the scientificexchange activities in China. Bai Chunli, President of the Chinese Academy of Sciences once inspected ASTS exhibition in the Guangzhou Convention of Overseas Chinese Scholars in Science and Technology and had a group photo taken with the team members.Former President Jesse Jin won the first class award in Chunhui Cup Competition sponsored by the Ministries of Education and Science. Only in 2012, over one hundred experts from ASTS were involved in exchange activities in China.
ASTS has also hosted many international conferences and exchange events in Australia.In 2009, the Eleventh "21st Century China: Overseas Scholars Serve the Scientific Development of Motherland" Symposium was successfully held in Sydney. As the Local Organizer, ASTS won the inscription by Han Qide, Vice President of National People’s Congress, President of Western Returned Scholars Association & Chinese Overseas-Educated Scholars Association, and President ofChina Association for Science and Technology. ASTS also assisted introduction and recruitment activitiesin Australia by Dalian, Beijing and other municipality governments. ASTS and its members have taken charge of the Overseas Liaison Office for several organizations.
